Kamala Beach

Kamala BeachKamala beach is a magnificent 2.5 kilometre crescent shaped beach with crystal clear waters. It is busy during the tourist season, and a popular destination for water sports enthusiasts.

Kamala is a typical Thai fishing village and many longtail fishing boats can be seen along the shore.

Nestled between the two headlands of Kalim, to the south, and Laem sing, to the north, Kamala Bay has developed into a lively environment with many shops, bars and restaurants lining the beach and main road through the town.

The southern Kamala headland is one of the most beautiful locations on Phuket Island. It has become a quiet yet spectacular location for many luxury property developments which nestle into the hillside.

The widing road leading up to Jomchang at the very tip of the headland has amazing views over the sparkling Andaman Sea and has to be one of the most romatic and dramatic places to watch the famous Phuket sunsets.

Along this road we can find the distinctive Plantation villas and apartments with their modern tropical styling, Andara, an Alan Zeman luxury property development, Ayara Kamala, a luxury Thai style villa development, Cape Sol, an opportunity to create your own luxury property on a spectacular ocean view plot and at the very tip, Jomchang.

Jomchang villas literally hang off the side of the headland and out towards the ocean. Large headland plots offer property owners custom-built Thai style villas with the assistance of an internationally appointed architect. These properties offer the ultimate in privacy and location with large land plots and forest landscaping.

The history of Jomchang says that the local farmer, Toh Yomding, chased elephants from his farmland in Patong and up onto this headland. Legend says that the stamping feet of the elephants and the slashing of the farmers sword, broke off a piece of the headland to create the small island which lies just off shore.

Legends such as these form a large part of Thai culture and are recreated in song and dance by the locals. A good introduction to Thai culture is a visit to Phuket Fantasea in Kamala which bills itself as "the ultimate nightime cultural theme park".
