20/09/2010 - Permission sought for Phuket's largest resort

The son of Patong mayor, Preechavude "Parb" Keesin, owner of development company Pisona,is seeking permission to build a one billion baht resort on Patong Hill.

The three star resort, already named Patong Bay Hill, would have 744 rooms and become Phuket's largest resort - beating the five star Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort by a few rooms.

The resort will be built on twenty rai (32,000m2) of land above Nanai Road.  Pisona owns another forty Rai but,as much of that is above the eighty metre construction height limit, it will not be developed.

Khun Parb said that the aim of the new resort would be to attract mid-range guests.

Pisona, already have a resort in Patong - The Patong Bay, located on prime beachfront land next to the five star La Flora and Impiana hotels.

The application for the new resort is due to be heard by the environmental committee on 24th September.

Established Phuket hotel Graceland also submitted an application today to add another 140 rooms to its resort.
